Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to all apps published by Zitru LLC (“Zitru”, “we”, “us”), collectively the “Apps”: Hot Gossip, Techly News, Atomo News, AnyNews, ZipZap and Orbit.
The short version
- The Apps have no accounts. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location.
- We do not store your personal data on our servers. The analytics and advertising data described below is collected and processed by Google and its partners on their systems, and we only see aggregated reports.
- Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see your payment details.
- In the news Apps, an anonymous app-generated identifier and the articles you open are sent to our news servers so we can rank feeds. Nothing in that data identifies you.
Information we do not collect
The Apps do not require registration and have no login. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, postal address, contacts, calendar, photos, files, microphone or camera input, or precise (GPS) location. If you email us, we use your address only to reply.
Information collected automatically by third-party services
The Apps include software development kits (SDKs) from Google. These SDKs collect certain information automatically and send it directly to the provider. It does not pass through, and is not stored on, servers operated by Zitru. The providers process it under their own privacy policies, which we link below.
Analytics and stability (Google Firebase)
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the Apps are used, Firebase Crashlytics to learn about crashes, and Firebase Remote Config (and, in the news Apps, Firebase Performance Monitoring) to adjust settings and measure speed without a new release. These services may collect: a random app-instance identifier, the advertising identifier of your device (see below), device model, operating system version, language, screen size, approximate location derived from your IP address, app version, the screens and features you use, session length, crash logs and the device state at the time of a crash. See Privacy and Security in Firebase and the Google Privacy Policy.
Advertising (Google AdMob and mediation partners)
The free versions of the Apps show ads served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob and the ad networks it mediates may collect your device's advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iOS, only where you have allowed it), IP address, device and browser information, and information about the ads you see and tap. Where permitted, this is used to show ads that are more relevant to you; otherwise you see non-personalised ads based on context alone. In the news Apps, AdMob may also mediate ads through Meta Audience Network. See Google's list of ad technology providers, How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Meta Privacy Policy.
Your advertising choices
- European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland: before any ad is requested, the Apps show a consent form. You can decline personalised advertising. To change your choice later, reinstall the App and the form is shown again.
- iOS: the Apps ask for permission before tracking under Apple's App Tracking Transparency. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of ads personalisation in Settings → Google → Ads.
- Remove ads: each App offers a one-time purchase or subscription that turns advertising off entirely. Once purchased, the App stops requesting ads.
Purchases
In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. Zitru never receives your card number, billing address or other payment details. The store provides the App with a purchase receipt, which is kept on your device to unlock what you bought. Refunds and cancellations are handled through the store's own tools.
Data sent to our servers (news Apps only)
Hot Gossip, Techly News, Atomo News and AnyNews download their articles from servers we operate. To rank and improve the feeds, these Apps also send us anonymous usage events: a random identifier generated by the App on first launch, the articles you open, and how you move through the App. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, device identifiers or any account, and we cannot use it to identify you. If you choose to use the in-app feedback form and include an email address, we receive that message and use it only to reply. We keep usage events for as long as they are useful for improving the feeds and delete them afterwards. ZipZap and Orbit send nothing to our servers; Orbit challenge codes are shared only through your device’s own share sheet.
Data stored on your device
Settings, favourites, personal bests, whether you have completed the onboarding, and whether you have purchased the ad-free version are stored locally on your device only. Uninstalling the App deletes them.
Children
The Apps are not directed at children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Retention and deletion
Because we hold no account or personal data about you, there is nothing for us to delete on request beyond the anonymous news-feed events described above, which cannot be tied back to you and which we delete once they are no longer useful. Data held by Google and its partners is retained under their policies; the controls in “Your advertising choices” let you reset the identifiers they use.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of personal data about you, to object to processing, to data portability and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Residents of California and other US states may also have the right to know what personal information is collected and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing” for advertising; the advertising controls above are the way to exercise that opt-out in the Apps. To exercise any right, contact us at the address below.
Security
The little data that reaches our servers is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected within commercially acceptable means against loss, theft and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to other sites
The Apps link to news articles and other external sites that we do not operate. We have no control over their content or privacy practices and cannot accept responsibility for their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top tells you when it last changed. Continued use of the Apps after a change means you accept the updated policy.
